1. What is CV or Resume?
I think of CV as a 'tool' to introduce 'myself' to the interviewer. In general, the word for resume in English is Resume or Curriculum Vitae, which is abbreviated as 'CV'. The expression of Resume is mainly used in the US or Canada, and Curriculum Vitae or CV is mainly used in the UK.
The Key to writting a CV is concised and accurate (generally within one A4 sheet of paper). This is because most interviewers find it difficult to check more than one page in order to identify the interview in a short time. (Normally, in openday, more than 1,000 applicants to come and have an interview). For that reason, I recommend that you wirte your CV concisely and accurately in 'one page'. Occasionally, some companies want a cover letter, but most airlines in middle east prefer to describe thier career and history on a sigle CV. After the final interview, there is a form for the final interview provided by the company, so you have to fill it out again according to each company's form.
2. Sample CV and what must be filled in?
You can create your own CV by referring to the three CV below. Presonal information, Education, Work experience, Language skills, Hobbies, etc. That must be filled in on one page as much as possible. Please note that, the three CV samples below were arbitrarily created by adapting the photos and CV format I used when applyig for cabin crew.
3. What color, size and font are preferred?
Sometimes I found few applicants submit thier CV with colorful or put stong perfume. But the interviewers not that much like it. I would like to introduce the commonly used font in CV and size. The black color and 10-12 point size is the best. Also, Calibri, Times New Roman, Arial, Vernada and Cambria, these font are the famous font. Have a look for the sample.
4. What are the qualification for cabin crew in Emirates?
If you refer to the qulifications of cabin crew listed on the Emirates website, you can find out what information you must write on your CV. Take a look at the photo below.
5. 5 things you need to put on your CV or Resume
5-1. Personal Information
Personal information is always include in what the airlines considers important. D.O.B, Mobile number (Homephone number is not put anymore these days), E-mail address, Home address, Nationality and Marital status. If your name is difficult to pronunce, use a nickname that is easy to call. Also, whether you are sigle, married, or divorced is just to know your condition so write the truth. Nationality is also important, so Google it and write your nationality correctly.
5-2. Education
You should put the latest history up side. Therefore put University first then highschool. Also, put associate, B.A, master's and doctoral depends on your degree.
5-3. Work Experience.
The cabin crew job is very tough job but highly rewarding job. They prefer someone who worked in service related work place. Therefore those people got friendly, professional also open-minded. If you have those experience wirte down. But not more than 3 or 4. If you put too much, then your CV become more 1 page, it's too much and ugly. Also, put more than 6 months working duration.
5-4. Overseas Experience
If you don't have any overseas experience, it doesn't matter. However, since the airlines is multy cultural team, therefore, they prefer the applicant who got overseas experience or culturally well understanding. During a flight, I met various people from diffrent background. It could be the religion, language or nationality. If someone who got willingness of understaning and respecting other culture, that is the key to be hired.
5-5. Language Skills
In international airlines, language is kind of service. Also it is strong key to be hired, especially in the middle east airlines company. Therefore put your mothertongue first then English next. Remember, ability to speak another language is an great advantage.
5-6. Others.
Here, you can put somthing you'd like to hightlight. It could be your specialty, hobbies, traveling experience or volunteer work. If there is something to make you great, just write down. Check the sample CV then you can try it.
